SR21 – Institute for Scientific Research

SR21 – Institute for Scientific Research, is a not for profit legal degree granting institution based in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland. In addition, the institute acts as a quality assurance organisation for scientific related professions and activities, in collaboration with science councils and scientific bodies, worldwide.
• Accreditation
We are accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities. Our Institution has earned Premier status for its commendable areas of operation.
• SR21
Join respected scientists in your field of interest, to investigate critical issues facing our changing world in the 21st century. Knowing what is false is as important to science as knowing what is true.
Commissioned Education – Advanced Research
We run specialised Advanced Study Degrees and we cooperate with elite institutions worldwide. We promote higher education, scientific research and we target on knowledge and technology transfer.
• Licensing as a Scientist
We develop our graduates to get licensed or become members with professional bodies and organisations worldwide. Benefits of joining may make them eligible for recognition as a professional scientist in their specialised discipline.

The Future of the Economy is in S.T.E.M.
Employment in occupations related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations.
• You’re a what? Psychometrician?
It’s important to find something that excites you, because working in S.T.E.M. means making an investment in a passion.
Technical ability is essential to ST.E.M. work, but communication skills are also important.
• Intro to tomorrow’s jobs
Education is highly concerned as our central hub, supporting a sustained international activity, coordinating interactions with academic and professional services, as well as promoting the exchange and dissemination of knowledge.
• USA degree equivalency. A window to the world
Our degree programs are eligible for USA evaluation and equivalency. This can be used for university admission, credits transfer, professional licensing, employment and salary adjustment, immigration.
Your network is more important than your résumé
Our graduates are able to join a highly passionate team of researchers, scientists as well as leaders in companies or organisations and to network with people that work in various disciplines.

S.T.E.M. is the core department of our Institution.
Our key aim is to encourage more young people to consider a career in science.

Research shows that the understanding of the careers available is generally poor and that the most common vision of a ‘scientist’ is someone who works in a lab in a white coat, probably undertaking research into something fairly obscure and distanced from everyday life. This is not surprising. Most publicly funded public engagement activity has focused around research and academia, and media coverage of ‘science’ is most commonly about research and breakthroughs.

Science jobs are not all the same.

Employment in occupations related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations.

Prospective S.T.E.M. professionals have a combination of skills, education, and experience. We promote the fact that a science professional may have a career as a scientist, in science or from science.

Degrees

Bachelor

The Bachelor of Advanced Study is a Higher Research Degree offered in almost any desired undergraduate discipline. This award usually involves considerable research effort, either through a thesis or supervised research projects. This new type of TopUp award is equivalent to the UK standard Bachelor’s degree (level 6), based on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (UK RQF).

Master

The Master of Advanced Study is a Higher Research Degree offered in almost any desired postgraduate discipline. This award usually involves considerable research effort, either through a thesis or supervised research projects. This new type of Higher award is equivalent to the UK standard Master’s degree (level 7), based on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (UK RQF).

Licentiate

A unique experience in Advanced study for recent Bachelor graduates. Licentiate of Advanced Study students work side-by-side with some of the leading scientists in the world in environments devoted exclusively to Advanced Research. This Higher Degree is offered in almost any desired discipline and is equivalent to Level 7 based on the new Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) of the United Kingdom.

Doctorate

The Doctorate of Advanced Study involves considerable research through a thesis and supervised research projects. Again, students work side-by-side with some of the leading scientists in the world in environments devoted exclusively to Advanced Research. This Higher Degree is offered in almost any desired discipline and is equivalent to Level 8 based on the new Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) of the United Kingdom.

Translational Medicine Division

Treating and Prevention:
Every 3 years 50 % of the established medical knowledge becomes obsolete and is replaced by new facts.

Translational Medicine is a multi-faceted discipline with a focus on translational therapeutics. In a broad sense, translational medicine bridges across the discovery, development, regulation, and utilisation spectrum. It may include application of research findings from genes, proteins, cells, tissues, organs, and animals, to clinical research in patient populations, all aimed at optimising and predicting outcomes in specific patients.

Mental Disorders Laboratory

All the confusion about defining “mental disorder” makes sense when one thinks about the term more carefully. Mental has to do with mind and disorder is often (though not always) a euphemism for disease. So, another way to think about mental disorder is as some kind of “mind disease.” Of course, as Thomas Szasz (1974) pointed out more than 50 years ago, mind or perception are products of our brain but  – unlike brain – are not tangible, and so, in a literal sense, they cannot be afflicted by diseases.

Chemical Structures Laboratory

Recent research has described a number of novel material characteristics. New identified material radiations and fields have been described and novel detection methods are advanced based on the “signature” of each substance. Applications of such “novelfields are developed by our experts and a novel detection system has been developed.

School of Business Sciences

We offer Business Sciences degree programs (single/joint/double awards) in collaboration with the Swiss based  Z urich E lite B usiness S c hool.
A well-qualified S.T.E.M. workforce is crucial to business and industry. Graduates in S.T.E.M. subjects can expect to receive amongst the highest salaries of all new recruits. And this message is clear across the S.T.E.M. education and training landscape. The S.T.E.M. (core) department of our Institution, helps to inform policymakers on the critical role that science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education plays in competitiveness and future economic prosperity.

Security Sciences Unit

The Science of Protection and Prevention
Individuals, communities, business and government are facing rapidly evolving security challenges in many aspects of everyday life due to advances in technology, globalisation and living in a more interconnected world. Our Institution seeks to improve security and resilience across a range of scales, from protecting the individual to ensuring the security of whole populations. Our core mission areas include security in cyberspace, CBRN threat reduction, critical infrastructure protection and bio and environmental security.
